BSAC Executive Director Chuck Burgess Named Honorary Mayor of Brandon!Jul 21 2016
The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center congratulates Executive Director Chuck Burgess on being named the 2016-17 Honorary Mayor of Brandon! In this year’s Honorary Mayor’s Race, Chuck raised a record-setting $100,500 for local charities from June 1st through July 3rd through events such as a kick off at Rivard Buick GMC, a kickball tournament at Padgett Park, an awesome day of laser tag at CQ Tactical Laser Tag, a clay shoot at Fish Hawk Clays, a sold out golf tournament at Cheval Golf & Country Club, a movie night hosted by Tammy Holmberg and the Chicks for Charity, a dance party at BSAC and a 5K run and barbecue at BSAC.
The Mayor’s Race, which has been a Greater Brandon tradition since 1959, is sponsored by the Community Roundtable and has as its purpose to bring exposure and resources to local non-profits during the month of June each year. The candidates select their charities of choice, run events and raise funds with the winner being selected on the morning of July 4th.
This year, Chuck selected the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Brandon and the Brandon Rotary Club Charity Fund which supports several local charities such as the Outreach Clinic, the Boy Scouts, the Women’s Resource Center, ECHO and Rotary’s Camp Florida to name a few.
Chuck got to ride in the Brandon 4th of July parade and will now serve a year’s term representing his charities and the Community Roundtable at events, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, local proclamations and continue bringing more recognition to local non profits.
Congratulations Mayor Burgess, BSAC is proud of you and your record breaking campaign!
