Our Stories

BSAC Impacts Individuals and Families and the Community in Many Different Ways. Here are a few of our stories.

Tennis for FUN

Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center is a proud official host site for Hillsborough County Special Olympics, and we are an official training site for both swimming and tennis. Tennis for Fun, an adaptive tennis program for intellectually disabled youth and adults coached by volunteer Judy Moore,  has been hosted by BSAC for over ten years at no charge. Many of these students are part of BSAC’s Team TRIDENT Program, a day training program teaching life skills, social skills and physical fitness habits.

Volunteers Needed for Nights of Shimmering Lights Events

The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center has been chosen by the team at Nights of Shimmering Lights as their holiday charity this year. They will be kicking off their annual month of over two million lights with a Breakfast with Santa and 5K Jingle Bell Run on Friday, November 29th. A portion of the proceeds benefits BSAC, its programs and families. BSAC is looking for volunteers to help in making this event the best one ever for the community The 5K begins at 8:00AM followed by the Breakfast with Santa at 9:00. Families looking to do something good in the community, high schoolers looking to chalk up some of those service hours or organizations looking to make a difference are all welcome to help BSAC and the folks at Nights of Shimmering Lights. It should be a great way to kick off the holiday season! To volunteer, please contact BSAC's Director of Development, Eric Soncrant, at This email address is being protected from spambots.
